Popołudnie zaczynamy od smutnych informacji. W czwartek zmarł bowiem Larry Lloyd, były zawodnik Liverpoolu oraz reprezentacji Anglii. Miał 75 lat. Informację za pośrednictwem social mediów przekazał inny z jego byłych klubów, Nottingham Forest.

Anglik grał nie tylko dla Liverpoolu, gdzie zagrał 150 spotkań i strzelił 4 gole, ale także (a może i przede wszystkim) dla legendarnego już dziś Nottingham Forest z lat 1976-1981. Na co dzień występował on na pozycji środkowego obrońcy.

Z „Tricky Trees” Lloyd wygrał m.in. ligę angielską w sezonie 1977/1978, puchar ligi w tym samym sezonie i rok później oraz Tarczę Dobroczynności w 1978. Najważniejszym trofeum był jednak wygrany dwukrotnie z rzędu Puchar Europy Mistrzów Krajowych. Forest dokonali tego odpowiednio w sezonach 1978/1979 i 1979/1980. Do zdobytych pucharów dorzucił jeszcze wygrane mistrzostwo Anglii w sezonie 1972/1973 w barwach Liverpoolu.

„Jesteśmy głęboko zasmuceni wiadomością o śmierci Larry’ego Lloyda. Larry, członek drużyny Miracle Men, był integralną częścią drużyny Forest, która w latach 1979 i 1980 zapadła w pamięć zdobywając Puchary Europy, występując w sumie w 218 meczach. W tej naprawdę smutnej chwili składamy kondolencje przyjaciołom i rodzinie Larry’ego. Spoczywaj w pokoju, Larry.” – czytamy w oficjalnym komunikacie Nottingham Forest.
